New Hyundai Kona Performance
With as much driving as you do in Boise, you need an SUV that can keep up with you. The Kona boasts a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 132 pound-feet of torque and 147 horsepower. A turbocharged 1.6-liter engine comes with the N-Line SUV, which boosts your output to 195 pound-feet of torque and 190 horsepower. The SE and other lower trims take right around seven seconds to reach 60 mph. We also like that it gets between 29 and 34 mpg, based on EPA estimates. All models have a variety of driving modes, too.
New Hyundai Kona Design
With a slightly box front end, the Kona looks a little different than other SUVs you'll see around Nampa. Though you can select from several colors, both the side mirrors and the body cladding match the color you pick. The body also has a rear spoiler, LED headlights and taillights, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, you'll find automatic temperature control and cloth covers on every seat. We also like that Hyundai added a little more rear passenger space.
New Hyundai Kona Technology
Right on the dash is a large piece of glass that covers the gauge cluster and the touchscreen. While the 12.3-inch touchscreen helps you access apps and use some safety features, the second 4.2-inch screen contains all your gauges. The modern digital design is easy to use. You can connect a phone via Bluetooth or use wireless versions of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Hyundai includes its Bluelink connect system and satellite radio to entertain you.
New Hyundai Kona Safety
Hyundai SmartSense includes everything you need when driving through Pocatello. The rear-view monitor gives you a convenient look at the space behind you when you put the Kona in reverse. You'll find a system that monitors traffic and helps you avoid accidents, lane following and lane keeping assist systems to keep you in a lane and away from other vehicles, and a driver attention warning. While the safe exit warning lets you know when you can leave the Kona, the rear occupant alert reminds you of anyone still in the SUV before you hop out.
New Hyundai Kona Trim Levels
The Kona comes in trim levels that are great for all drivers. The new Kona SE is a fun little SUV with a low price. It features an intelligent variable transmission, LED lights, HD radio, and power and USB ports. Choose the SEL to get the same features and 18-inch wheels, roof rails, a power driver's seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Hyundai added a turbocharged engine to the N-Line as well as 19-inch wheels, a twin-tip exhaust, heated front seats, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Also available is the Limited trim with a bigger gauge cluster, surround view and blind-spot monitors, and smart cruise control with built-in navigation.
